Recently moved into a new home. There is not a single good spot for my 250dd tank unfortunately :(

My question is this.
A.) Would you sell everything off and get out of the hobby?
B.) Downsize to a much smaller tank and get rid of all the large angels which you LOVE and the reason why you bought a large tank?
C.) Set 250dd up in an un-finished basement where it won't really be seen other than laundry?

Help :(

I agree....I would eaither finish the basement and put the tank down there first choice....or if I had no other choice do the largest small tank that would fit!

I vote fish cave in the basement

Fish in the basement. There are some advantages to having the fish down there: it's probably pretty quiet most of the time, and any mess is easier to clean up. If it's near the laundry, you might have a drain in the floor that would be useful.

I would put it in the basement. You can always finish the basement around the tank or work on downsizing to a tank upstairs once your moves in, settled, and can really see how the layout is going to be with your furniture, etc.

I would caution against putting a tank in an unfinished basement. I've seen too many tanks be neglected because they were put somewhere where the family never went and couldn't be enjoyed, only to become a burden rather than a hobby. Out of sight, out of mind.

I've given it some thought, and I'm still unsure!
I've thought about how it would be nice having it in the basement - easy clean up, floor drain near by, even thought about the possibility of adding a grow out tank to the system.....
But I'm also worried it most definitely will become out of site out of mind. The house I purchased has a few projects that are higher on the priority list than refinish the basement. That wouldn't be for a long while.

You could amplify foot traffic though the basement. Put your office down or Ice cream freezer down there. Big tv. Make it so it’s not out of sight. And patience is a big part of this hobby. You could have your friends or your lfs hold your big fish while you build your basement AROUND your tank. Things will work themselves off
