Hello,

need help, so I’ve acquired a large powder blue tang but I wantto put inin my tank with another fish. Currently it’s inQT tub with an air stone and live rock.
I’m thinking of putting it in my sump so it gets used to the water parameters before going in the display. But the section I want to put it in is about 30 litres.

the tub he’s currently in is 80 litre.

how often do I should I be doing a water change if I keep it in a tub?

should I add anything else to the tub?

am I doing the right thing?

Welcome to the REEF!! I would leave him where he is currently and not move him to your sump. He will get used to your water when you acclimate him to the system after QT. I would also add a large PVC fitting like a 3 or 4" elbow or Tee so he can hide when he feels that he needs to you really dont need the rock unless you are using it for bacteria population purposes. If he is in a tub I would just run a HOB filter setup and proper sized heater and make sure to keep an eye on the parameters to keep them in check.

This should help as well.
