Hey All,

Trying to pick where to set up my RODI unit.

Conditions:

- I live in an apartment. 1 kitchen, 1 bathroom

- we already PUR filter our water - a carbon filter, IIRC (our public water comes from a fairly polluted river, so they put chloaramines and all kinds of stuff in the water. OK for humans, but my wife still doesn't like it). So, I would prefer the RO bypass thing so we can get RO water when needed.

- My tank will be 55 gallons, 70 gallons with the sump. I estimate total aquarium water usage will be 15-20 gallons/month, or 180-240 gallons per year. (to be honest, I've already considered trying store-bought RO water, or offering a local reefer

I guess the main question is kitchen or bathroom? I am leaning towards putting the RODI unit+ RO holding tank for drinking water under the sink. The Mrs. probably won't have it outside (e.g. to the left or above the sink) because it takes up space and because it will have hoses running everywhere, but we could look at that.

Ref here (but we'll need to find a place to put all the stuff under the sink. :D :D ):

If it's put in the bathroom, it seems to me it'd be awkward/weird to have the DI bypass there (assuming there even was the space, which I don't think there is).

What do you think?

I live in an apartment and mine is in the master bath. We have a fairly large master bath and a small kitchen.
Mine is attached to a small chest that sits against the back wall and the resivoir sits on top of the chest.
I saw one deciding how to mount mine in which a cabinet had been built to house everything. The cabinet sat on the floor astride the toilet above the tank. Like one of those space saver shelves.

I also live in an apartment, and for the longest time I used to drive all the way the my fish store and buy their ro water, $5 for 5 gallons adds up after a while plus it's a hassle. One day he sold me a used ro unit and it was the best thing I could have done. I just hook mine up to the kitchen sink when I need to make water and unhook it when done and store in the closet in a square Tupper wearing bucket.
