I'm setting up a new tank and was wanting to get an algae scrubber.
Problem is I'm stuck between 2 choices.

Which Algae Scrubber would you buy and why?

Thanks

question is how many or you are using an algae scrubber. Do you need one if you have a chaeto reactor

I already ordered and received my 302 Aquatics scrubber.

Have you started using it yet? Any observations?
Yes I started using it 20 days ago.
I was told to leave the lights on until I start seeing algae grow. I just started seeing some grow in the past few days. I am going to start running it at 18 on/6 off.
So far its working as it should. No noise at all. It does put off a little heat by my Kessil H380 puts off way more heat.
I'm just waiting for that day when I can harvest it......and it looks like this:

Great choice. I have a 302 Scrubber and it works extremely well. I like the new designs.... less light pollution into the fish room. My nitrates and phosphates get gobbled up even though I feed like crazy. My scrubber is oversized.... too much...but he had a deal on it and I bit... I still run a skimmer.... but Joey insists that you don't need to. Also... he says you don't need to do water changes... I still do monthly... to help replenish elements not otherwise dosed.

The only two complaints I have are: a) the light pollution which in my basement is no big deal except the neighbors are convinced I am growing something I am not, and b) cleaning the screen on my scrubber is a major pia. They are too wide for my sink... and tables... so I need to get inventive and it is a pia.

All this said... I don't run GFO, Carbon... nothing other than the skimmer. I feed like crazy and the fish and coral are very happy. The scrubber also has tons of pods and micro fauna that also grows in it. It sends a regular supply of live food to the tank...which is great. I have a mandarin that is particularly appreciative.

Would love to see some pics of your scrubber.
The light only leaks out of the top where the lid sits.
I have no complaints on this scrubber so far.

Here is one from a couple months ago.... It is plumbed to the return heading up to the tank.... above all of this on the main floor.

Where the light leaks, all they did was put some sort of dark vinyl decal roll on the clear part to comer it.
They left just enough space that the 2 lights could fit against the acrylic and no light leaks....a little does but its not noticeable.
Has your scrubber ever overflowed?

Nope. The second outlet... the top one is there in case the bottom one is blocked. It has never blocked up as far as I know.... I watch the entire system pretty close.

When I set mine up I just dry fitted in PVC for the E-Drain.
I did not think it would ever flood.
So far mine has not overflowed either.
