Which aquascape looks better?

Really there's just one rook that I added / took out but I think it makes a dramatic difference to the tank and I don't know which is better! What do you think? Select the corresponding number.

I'm a fan of the second one. Partly because I did mine in a similar style, but it looks less like a wall-o-rock and more natural.

2. I like it when there 2 separate zones of attention. It's more likely to draw your eyes to something than an overwhelming mass.

I agree. I remember back in the 90's the "wall" look was the fad, recently it's been to have at least one, break away from your reef design. But as always, make it the way that you want, not what's popular. Same as a Hot Rod, make it yours.

I agree with you guys! The extra rock can live in my sump that stuff is too expensive to toss or put in the garage!

I prefer the second one, it’s just seems to look more natural and ‘flow’ down to the sand.

But there both nice and it’s your tank so........

I like the look of 2 better right now.

HOWEVER, they are just bare rocks. The other rockscape will give you more places to put corals if that is where you want to go. And IMHO, if you had both of these rockscapes full of coral (use your imagination), people would be picking number one over number two. It's not about what looks good now, it's about what you invision it will look like a year or two (or three) down the line. But that's just my opinion.

I can't believe I am saying this since every tank I have ever set up was with two islands, but I like the first one. The two islands of the second one look to perfect to me......a perfect arch and a perfect triangle. First looks more natural to me.

I like 2, it falls into the 1/3 rule, keeps your eyes moving and creates depth.. There is some good information on aquascaping in this thread.

I like the two islands but I would consider getting a few more pieces of rock and stacking higher on the right side

Always store rock in the sump!!! I do this so I can set up a smaller tank at any point and also in case a rock is just too full of algae (vacation) I can switch out. The area in the sump the rocks go are unlit. Plus pods galore!!!

Personally I liked them both but went with #1. Since you’ll be looking at every night make it the way you like it. It’s your work of art
