Which Bean Animal Overflow box is best?

I continue to be very happy with the modular marine box I purchased. I’ve had an opportunity to see most of the other options and I find the MM to exceed all others in terms of build quality. Whichever you choose, make sure that you get one where the internal and external boxes are at the same height. This solves the noise issues of off set boxes.

As far as I can see, MM seem to be active - both website and eBay store.
Good news! I have a MM overflow that is really nice, competently made, and nicely constructed. Was sad to hear he was having some issues. Glad to hear he’s carrying on!

Synergy Shadow 16”. Very happy
Ok, I’ll bite. How are you happy? You must run very low flow?

The synergy is definitely industry worst overflow in that category between the loud waterfall sound from offset boxes, flimsy thin polycarbonate, incredibly prolific salt creep, and poor adhesion to pvc so they sometimes develop slow leaks.

I’m in the middle of emails back and forth with MM and would like to know the build quality and The MM internal /external boxes are Same height? I just ordered a SCA 120 and it is coming pre drilled for a Synergy 16” Shadow .. after reading bad reviews on it I’m leaning towards the MM at the moment . Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks

I have a MM overflow and a Synergy. The MM is far better in every way that matters to me. Silent, solid, and so much easier to keep clean. I have no idea how Synergy overflow ever got a good review in comparison. The other acrylic manufacturers appear to be just as good also. My vote is Modular Marine and Exotic.

If you look on the MM website I think all your questions are answered in pictures .....

BTW, there are some things about the MM that collectively set it apart from the others (and why I chose it). Aesthetically, I really like the bent rather than glued front corners. I like the fact that the external box is eurobraced. I like the fact that it comes with lids and they are polycarbonate and don’t warp. Internal and external boxes are at the same level. Even though I opted against it, the removable internal skim box is nice. Oh yeah, MM was willing to customize mine to my ‘unique’ requirements.

I think the MM boxes are nice and was something I was looking at. I went with custom tank so did not use them as I had the tank builder I used make one instead. I prefer a single design that covers the whole side of the tank it is on which I guess they call coast to coast and a weir. I think you get the best skimming this way once your fish learn that it isn't a play thing.

Yeah I seen them BUT sometimes you have to ask the consumers

I recently replace my Tideline with one from Exotic Marine. Very easy to work with them and they'll work with you to make sure it fits the holes in the tank. Taylor sent me two templates to make sure the holes would line up correctly.
