ther are a few different companies out there and am not sure of the difference. does anyone recommend one manufacturer over the next. this will be going on a fish breeder setup

I have been using Warner EcoBak since the end of June and love them. I have not used any other. I have not had any issues at all with them. I previously dosed vodka.

I've been very happy with Vertek, but many, like Paul, have had excellent success with the Warner pellets. Good to do research because some of the pellet brands have not worked or caused trouble. These two have worked well.

I'm using the WM EcoBak as well and have had good results. I'm not too sure how much of an impact it has had on phosphates because I run a fuge with chaeto and also GFO in a reactor, but it has made a significant reduction in my nitrates.

It's been my experience that you'll still have to maintain your Chaeto and/or GFO to keep phosphates down. Pellets will remove them to a point, but that point is still too high for a reef aquarium.

I think there is a point for some people that you can stop running GFO. Not sure why but it does not happen for everyone. I stopped using GFO over a year and half ago. My phosphates are consistently in the .03-.07 range (tested with a hanna meter). The only time I ever have issues is when I get carried away with feeding since I feed heavily (3-4 times perday) and dose AA. I have been using a liquid phosphate remover(Lanthanum Chloride) when that happens maybe once a month if that. If I only feed once or twice per day my phosphates do not rise at all.

For those people who use the WM pellets, did you have a bacteria bloom when you first started using them? I am seriously still looking into them, but dont want to risk that with all my corals in my 125g.

I think maybe it would be good start a poll for this!! how many are running biopellets vs. vodka, or zeolite.. for example or if you are using or not and brand!

I ran WM for 3 1/2 months got several algaes & no reduction in nitrate couldn't get a phos or silicate reading because algae consumed it switched to beadfilter pellets & in less than 3 months nitrates at zero algae is 50% gone & the rest is slowly dying couldn't be happier with the switch!
