I'm in need to buy some carbon and GFO. just wondering what the general consensus is. :)

I use the mid grade BRS one and it works well. Was using BRS GFO but I just tried the Brightwell ExtraxPhos and its awesome. A day or two after putting it in my Cyano started receding and is still slowly going away. However, I've reads its activated alumina and might be harmful to a reef. I read that over on RC.

I did recently try ChemiPure Elite and I've never seen my tank more clear. Thinking about getting the big bag of it instead of buying new carbon but haven't decided yet.

hmmm... I guess I need to look into other products. I've always just used carbon and GFO.

For GFO, I use Rowaphos... tried plenty of other stuff and nothing else seemed to work as well. For Carbon, I usually buy whatever is on sale at the LFS, but right now I'm using ROX 0.8 from BRS

I use BRS pellet GFO, but I think I may go back to Rowaphos. I don't think BRS gfo works very well. I don't use carbon. Only if there is an emergency(possible toxin), any brand.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I'll look into ordering at BRS. I always just went to the LFS and buy what they had.

+1 on Rowaphos ...... I'm also using Marineland Premium activated carbon. (don't think the brand of activated carbon matters nearly as much)

have them both in a single BRS media reactor with MJ1200

Im so happy my LFS supplies BRS products. I would rather pay a couple more $$$ and get the supplies right when i want them. I feel BRS products are great. Just be careful on the type of GFO and carbon you get. Make sure that you get the correct one for your application.

I'm using BRS Rox0.8 Carbon and BRS GFO Granules in a filter bag in my sump. Water is super clear and phosphates a nearly zero. I plan to get more once my supply is gone.
