so i know there are alot of discussions om carbon,

I know they take some good stuff out with the bad ones,

But my question is,

Brs sells 1/2 lb for 12$

But i can get 6 lbs for $10 from ebay.

Is one better the other?

They both are activated carbon.

What are the differences,
Which one should i get,

I only have a 20 gallon tank, but when I do run GAC I use those Aquaclear inserts for a 5-20 gallon tank. I think there's only 3 in a pack for like $5.99, so a years worth only costs me about $30 bucks.
So far so good. :)

I have already watched the video numerous times,

But have anyone used this ebay one?

Brs are gonna recommend what they sell lol, but if i can get carbon from ebay 12times as much for same price, you know

To the OP: Using a smaller amount of ROX .8 carbon will do more for your water than using a larger amount of the carbons you mentioned. So it's virtually impossible to compare them by a weight/price metric. And at the end of the day if we're splitting hairs over a few dollars difference in price of the cheapest available carbons this may not be the best way to approach items that are added to an aquarium ostensibly full of your valuable livestock.

I've always been gun shy with carbon because of it possibly being related to hlle and coral bleaching or stn. But I do like the benefits so I have always used purigen.

Just get the BRS ROX and call it a day. Buy the largest quantity you can get and not look back. Also what are you looking to get out of adding the carbon to your system? Is it just to polish your water? If that is the case I'd personally recommend getting a UV sterilizer which is going to do a much better job. Just my $0.02.

Once again, they compare brs products,

My main question was ebay carbon the one i posted vs brs one

They describe the difference between the types of carbon in the video. They sell all of the ones in the video. If you’ve watched it several times you should already have your answer.

So i have a little fishies phosban 150,

I have to be sure that the carbon would be big enough so it wont go through the foam that the reactor have.

Thats why i want to choose big enough grain so it wont go thru the foam padding

I have and i love purigen, but i cant use purigen with my reactor

You are going to get varying opinions on what to use. There is some truth to quality and its relationship to how much you would use vs the other. However I will say after using BRS ROX .8 carbon after my anemones spawned to clean up that mess while it did work it was too small and made a mess out of my skimmer, pumps, and sump. The water was clear, sure - but even rinsing (I guess not enough) it seemed to still get through my reactor and cause me some minor issues.

I keep it on hand for emergencies but if I was to buy again it would be larger pieces and not ROX .8 carbon. Just my take.

I have tried a lot of carbon products here in the UK ( so this won't help reefers from outide the UK ) but the absolute best I have ever seen is packaged and posted from a guys house. He gets the carbon from work in a huge sack that would otherwise be thrown out and then sells it on. I bought a 2kg bag from him for £20 ( about $27 shipped ). My water quality is amazing and best of all the carbon is only changed every 3 months or so. It won't mean anything to most of the members ... but thank you Dean Gleave.

You know what, its funny someone else told me something similar to this,

And one person even said get the cheapest one, it might take an extra day compared to others but you will be saving some money so might as well wait an extra day or two
