So I'm just starting out, but know I will eventually run out of room for my corals. How closely can I place certain corals? Will most likely have zoas, favias and favites, euphyllia (I know they can coincide) acans and eventually chalices. Also, out of those corals what will do well placed on rocks? Only have so much space on the ground floor.... Thanks guys!

You have nailed it. same type of corals will do fine together. Mine are place 1in apart.

So could two favias touch?

I don't have any favias so I can't help you with those but I have had major problems with acan echinatas. They can send out some nasty sweepers. I've had them, chalices, and softies get into a nasty fight before.

I thought that would be an issue. Can all the corals I listed be placed on rocks? Or do they all need to grown o sand beds?

All corals will fight if they are to close to each other. LPS corals can reach allot farther than you think. Fungia are known to move around, I had one move and it mowed down some prime chalices and acans. Give as much space as you can and if you can't, then don't get then don't get them;)

Be careful even with euphyllia, most as in hammer, frogspawn are ok. But torch will attack other euphyllia and pretty much everything else.

The most bad butt I ever had was galaxia, that was one mean **** [emoji41]

Ditto on the Galaxia, mine had swipers that were over 4"

Ha that's wild. I have a toxicity favite, probably a inch in diameter. He sends out sweepers five inches long.

I had a wall hammer take out a favia, a torch take out a branching splatter hammer, branching hammer take out a Duncan, an Elegant sting a torch and Galaxia stings anything within 6"-12" I have hammers and frog spawns touching with no problems. No problem with zoas, but mushrooms have killed some SPS.

Remember seeing on a forum years ago "coral wars" . Like the drunken pub game " would a tiger beat a polar bear" it was funny, each having their top trump.

Best bet is never take the chance, I've a war coral (you thought the name it would be well hard) that has been damaged by a Favia .... He's a little green mean fighting machine !
