Hello, it has been 10 years since my first tank (150G) went away. I am ready to start again new. Starting with RO/DI filtering and forward. I wish this thread to be about your experiences or opinions about a tank (I like the RSM but not the lighting) The cubes have caught my eye and I did not expect to like them. Rimless beauty's. The Marineland looks nice but I instantly thought the rear Bulks were ...well weird, but more so I am concerned that they look small. Any way I like The Marineland 60G but also really want a LOT of opinion from everyone. I want to do some Fish, Live Rock, Sand, SPS, LPS and some softy's...But You all know way way more than me. It has been a while and I only had fish and dead hard coral (algae collectors they were :). Thank you for your time. Mark C.

This is the Sump I am looking at.

Hi Mark, welcome to R2R. People are busy on Sundays, give it a couple days and I'm sure people will be more than happy to help you out. Personally I like to order custom so I can select all the options for myself instead of getting what it comes with.

Thank you. I have been looking to order a custom tank but can not seem to find the right links. Thank you for your time. I will give it a few days.

If you're looking for custom check out reefsavvy. They are a sponsor here and also local to Fl. I saw some of their tanks in person at a frag swap and they were killer...I'll definitely be ordering one from them when I upgrade.

Not a fan of the marineland. I have it and wish i would have purchased something else. The overflow it has preinstalled needs to be tossed and install your own pipe design. I didnt do that and regret it.

One thing to consider if you are looking into getting a cube is that unless you go pretty large for a cube, the stand is pretty awkward for fitting a non-custom sump under. But, if you are ok with getting a custom sump, then a cube is an awesome decision. I also suggest ReefSavvy. Once I can afford a reef savvy tank, I will be getting one! :) If you are looking at getting something "cube-ish" go with a tank that has as much surface area as possible. This will allow for a great gas exchange in the tank and allow for a nice amount of oxygen in the water.

Also, welcome to Reef2Reef and hopefully you will find a lot of information on here. :)

Plus one for reef savvy. They are close to u and u can get the tank the way you want it. Craftsmanship is amazing. I don't personally have one but have seen one and it was a beauty. I have a lee mar 55 rimless very happy with it. Craftsmanship is Great and I got it the way I wanted it. Good luck.

I like that sump....and thats a HUGE filter sock on that guy, haha. I only use 4 x 7 inch socks for my 250gal setup, so that big sock will last you a while :)

Don't have much experience in the custom tank options, as I have a standard 220gal high tank from Marineland.

Mark will you be using your own stand?

Thank you all very much for your own perspectives , as this is just what I am looking for. I am thinking I might build my own. I took the family into Orlando to just look around at some Tanks and feel a Cube is certainly my style now. I think it has to be 24 inches tall for sure (amazing depth) also the 90G is probably about the size that screams WOW in a Cube. I will certainly be looking up this custom builder you folks speak of. :)

Cubes are pretty cool. You might want to look through some of the other members threads here on R2R for some additional inspiring ideas. I know that I modifiy my own plans a lot by looking at what other people have done.

Thank You Renegade. Those are good words to an old beginner. I have an old sump but feel it is a bit dated and small. I wish acrylic was not so expensive because I can build anything. I feel my wish is shared by many :)

What do I need to know about Marineland Tanks that I do not know. They look thick and I like the black caulking. I can not find any defects or bubbles.

The only thing that blows about the perfecto 60 is the horrible back drilled design. Your 24" cube ends up 30" off the wall all plumbed. Look into getting something else with a bottom drilled overflow so you can snug it up against the wall better.

I noticed this about a month ago before I joined here. Not only does the rear exit seem a bit strange, but they do not look large enough for flow. I have already decided that the 93 Marineland Cube looks to be about perfect in size/ future/ and so on. The picture below shows Part of the 93G next to a 70G Marineland. The 70G has an 18 inch depth (too shallow for my liking)

This is a rear exit Marineland 45G $249.00 next to a 60G $299.00 rear exit. The difference is the height 18 verses 24. I see this a lot.

the 93 looks pretty sick, but the shallow tank is my kind of tank. i would go with the 93 it seams like the best out of all of them and the extra gallons gives you more room and allows more fish.
