After scouring these forums I am still confused to which D.E. /diatom filter is best for a 92g tank.
I can't do the fallow period at this point and am not experiencing an ich outbreak, I just have ich on a tang that comes and goes. I know DE filters are effective for managing ich or atleast reducing the population. A UV sterilizer is pretty much out because of flow so I am thinking a DE filter would be my best option.

The 3 I have seen mentioned often are the vortex, marineland polishing filter and a regular pool filter.
Vortex- I am reading too many negatives
Marineland polishing filter- seems too small for my tank
Pool filter- some are using hayward but this seems too large

I do have an ocean clear canister filter which has a 25 micron filter inside of it but I really do not think this filter is completely "sealed" enough to prevent the DE powder from leaking through. I was even thinking of having this filter before the DE filter so the water would be cleaner and make the DE last longer.

Any ideas of what I can use in a 92g tank for this purpose? I am even open to DIY but would rather have something that won't be a huge pain to clean, maintain, etc.

Thanks a lot for the help!

The marineland should be more than sufficient for your needs. Run 2 if you need to. Remember these filters are not meant to be run permanently.
