In addition to my main display/basement sump setup ( https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/60-cube.160759/), I setup a 20 gallon nuvo clownfish/anemone tank for my daughter (my wife recently said I should stop calling it my daughters tank and just own that it’s been for me all along, https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/the-kids-20-gallon-fusion.283937/). Tank was great for awhile, then problems started and eventually I pulled it down and put the livestock in the basement fuge until I could address the problems. The first was that I developed an algae problem and one of the ways I wanted to address it was with an algae reactor. Which led to problem number two, which is I don’t like the cluttered/homemade look of a bunch of stuff coming out of the top of the tank. I really like the clean lines of rimless tanks, and felt I was ruining the aesthetics by hanging everything over the top. This led me to start looking at the Red Sea reefer series. Love that it could all be in a sump. And also like the idea of concealing my ato container in a stand. So, by this point I’ve mostly decided to abandon the 20 and buy a different setup, but then I started thinking of the coral and livestock I could buy for the cost of a reefer. Which of course made me rethink it all. So, looking for suggestions. Of either how to make the 20 more sleek (drilling it? Open to all ideas here), or if I should abandon it and go for a sump. Equipment wise, I have a radion xr15 for it, but any other water movement or additional lights would have to be purchased. And obviously because of the conundrum of new tank vs coral, funds aren’t unlimited! It’s a save up/work overtime type of proposition! But I do have about a grand ready to spend. So, what would you do?

Looks like you have a lot going on, I don't really have any good advice as far as which choice to go with, but I would take the time to try and figure out what is going wrong with the 20 now as a learning opportunity in order to avoid the problems with a future and probably much bigger tank.
