This is my first saltwater setup and I am confused which Eheim pump to go with. I have pretty much narrowed it down to the Eheim 1260 and 1262. If you have experience with these pumps, please help me

Some specifics:

  • Display Tank: 58 gallon rimless (apprx. 36 L x 18 W x 24 H)
  • Internal Herbie overflow with sump in cabinet below
  • (One return pipe to the tank; may split the return into two)
  • Stand: 36 L x 18 W x 28 H
  • Sump: 23 gallon (apprx. 24 L x 14 W x 16 H)
  • Total vertical height for pump: apprx. 4-feet
  • Total horizontal length for pump: apprx. 3-feet
  • Running an Emporer Aquatics 02218 18-watt UV-C teed off the return and returned back to the sump
  • Running a BRS Reactor teed off the return
  • Running two Vortech mp10wes pumps for tank circulation
  • Two ball valves and one check valve in the system
For Eheim users/lovers out there on R2R, which Eheim would you go with?

I want enough power to have the ability to run the UV-C sterilizer at the suggested maximum gph of 356 gph and run the carbon reactor as well, but I also want good flow to the display tank. Any comments or suggestions will be taken into consideration! Thank you for your help!

You don't need a ton of flow though the UV so I would T off to it with gate valves to adjust the flow. I would use the 1262 just to cover your bases.

Thank you for your help! I will do as you say and go with the 1262.

I was going to use a Cepex ball valve on the line to the UV, but you think a gate valve would be better? I assume you recommend the gate because it'll be easier to fine tune? Thanks again!!!

Can anyone who uses the Eheim 1260/1262 tell me the dimensions of the pump with the base plate attached?

I have read a couple places that the dimensions are: Dimensions : 8.6" L x 4.6" W x 6.3" H. But, I cannot find out if that includes the base plate or not?

Thank you!
