Which filters should I use for my RO system?

I have various filters and micron sizes. Not sure which one to use. Tap water is 250 TDS. I’m using a dual RO membrane.

Is there a DI resin that is better at removing phosphates? Or are they all the same?

I have bubble algae thinking lowering phosphates might help.

Sediment filter first, smallest micron carbon block next, color changing DI next.

I have a sediment that is 5 microns another that is 10. Which one?

As stated: 1st stage is sediment to remove dirt ( I would use the 5 micron ). When it gets dirty swap it out for your 10 micron, second stage is carbon to remove chemical impurities, 3rd stage is resin (after the RO membranes). The BRS nuclear resin works best for me. Others seems to change color way to fast.

The concept of decreasing pore size on successive filter is wise, but this applies only to sediment filters. The pore size on the sediment filter should be no more than 0.5 micron larger than any of the carbon blocks. Once you get to the carbon stages, the first one in line should be the one with the highest capacity.
