Keep it at that for now, the instant you remove the clown pair is when you can have more fish.
I have a 20g Red Sea max nano (18” cube) with a total of 8 fish. 4 of them are gobies, 3 are wrasse and the last is a blenny. If I had a clown or two in there my stock would be completely different, I wouldn’t have 3 fish and IMO that would push it so I’d probably only have the two clowns.

IDK if you remember but I posted a thread similar to this a few months ago and you told me to get a dart fish or nano gobies like your black clown goby.

The clowns are fine and actually lovely, but thank you for the advice. I would be willing to bet IF there is any initial trouble it will be from Mr TSB b/c he thinks he owns the rocks -- that said it would be mild and he'll be fine pretty quickly.

Actually I didn’t realise it was the same person! If your clowns are still rather peaceful and if I remember correctly they’re not an aggressive species and are instead Occelaris then it should be just fine to add another fish. I think my stock has actually grown since last time we spoke, it’s now at:
- Linear Blenny
- Griessingeri Goby
- Acicularis (Black) Clown Goby
- Yasha Goby
- Hectors Goby
- Blue Star Leopard Wrasse
- Naoko Fairy Wrasse
- Pink Streak Wrasse

Man, I think I need to grab a couple Eviota gobies as the final two fish. 9 is the max Id probably go (Any more and I think I’m over). Man the ones you got are beautiful! Better show photos for when they arrive :)

Well, the little nano gobies came in this morning, and they are very cute! Very tiny, so it seems like they prob have a small bit of room to grow still. They acclimated well, ate, and are just hangin out together around the bottom of the tank on rocks and the sand.

Honestly not one of the OG fish has even noticed that they're there.

I would definitely order direct from Biota again. Everything was packed beautifully and the heat pack was nice and toasty.

How have they settled in? Also do they eat the pod population?

They seem to be settling in very well. They look just like the photos. They're so tiny, I'm assuming they are eating the pods, but over the past month I've also begun feeding the tank reef nutrition R.O.E. -- I saw them going for that when I fed the tank earlier. TBH I was thinking I'm glad I have so much microfauna in my tank b/c if they didn't start eating prepared food right away at least they'd be able to hunt that.

My TSB did notice them finally, but he was for one scared (LOL), and seemed more inquisitive than anything else. No aggression.

silly question but do the coral/black clown gobys need coral at the start?

They don’t need coral, I made sure mine felt secure with plenty of hiding spaces in the rockwork (Not that he ever uses them).

They would probably like it but I had one a while ago that preferred to stick to the front glass and I've seen others not hang out in corals. I think once they learn there are no predators they are less obsessed with a coral.

Instead they become addicted to sitting on other fishes heads when they sleep…
Mine is addicted to perching in my blenny and I can’t figure out why haha. I’ll try find an older photo of him perching on the blenny (I know I have one somewhere on here…)
