I use Inventor for work... and have some experience with Solidworks. Both are excellent... and EXPENSIVE!

For playing around with a simple 3d model at home, try Google Sketchup.

Works fine, much, much easier to learn to use, and the base version is free.

I have a thosand hours or so on a wanhao i3, works great. I would get an creality CR20 now though, or their ender 3.

Thanks. I had used SketchUp a few years ago the new version had some changes that were giving me trouble..but time to start learning.

I use solidworks at work for GD&T and will just use it at work for tank related things. But there is no way im going to pay that much for it... So +1 for sketchup

My brother has 2 Robo3D printers, and loves them. He’s constantly printing things. An older model but still works like new! They offer new ones now too. But pretty affordable!
