Wasn't sure if I should ask this here, or over in @Randy Holmes-Farley 's chemistry forum...

I know treating with copper/coppersafe messes up some ammonia tests, but are there any that can be used (in my case with Coppersafe)?

I have a Seachem Ammonia badge, but I noticed it says "freshwater" on it, although I could swear the packaging said both... That being said, when I first added copper, the "reactor pad" turned a little greenish, which isn't really in the color scheme of results...

I have the Salifert Ammonia test, and got a negative reading, I just am not sure if it is valid with the chelated copper in the water...

The only liquid ammonia test kit I am aware of which works with copper is Seachem's ... BUT only if you are also using their Seachem Cupramine product.

While the Seachem ammonia alert badge is not perfect, it does have the advantage of working with all forms of copper. There is only one alert badge - and it works in both freshwater & saltwater. ;)

The ammonia alert badge is often packaged with a pH badge. The pH badge only works in fresh water but the ammonia badge works with both.
