Planning my 150g reef and need advice on which internal return pump to get. Tank will be sps and lps, 40g long sump, 6x60" tek T5s, SRO XP2000i skimmer.

I don't try to have a ton of flow from my return but on my 150 I use an Ehiem 1262. It does the job.

Love the water blasters - size depends upon what flow you're looking for out of your returns.

I use a rio hf26 on my 180g havent had any problems at all

I like my Taam Rio HF, great impeller design and ceramic shaft/bushings. VERY affordable(under $120) compared to Eheim and super reliable, which can't be said for the older Rios. Make sure its a Hyper Flo

dont forget low power consumption

rio got a bad rap because the older pumps had flat power cords that would crack now they have better power cords no problems

what about the eheim compact+ 5000. 1320 gph flow. anyone have any experience with one of these?

I have a mag 12 on my 125 . Picked it up in sale years ago and still going strong. Also have had good luck with Quiet One pumps . Personally stay away from Rios , not that reliable , burned up many over the years .

I'm looking to upgrade to a mag 12 pump. However I'm concerned about the overflow not being able to handle it. I have a HOB Eshopps OF with dual 1" drains and u tubes (only one seems to stay running though). I have the 2 drains Y'd into 1 - 1 1/4" because I only have enough room in the sump (30g) for one sock. I will have 5' head. The OF measures 9"W x 2 3/4"deep x 6"H.

So what are your opinions? I have a 125g tank.

Will pond pumps work? I have a 225 I am getting ready to set up. I am looking for a pump as well, but on a budget. I went up to menards and saw that they had ponds pumps for a good price. 1000gph $50, 1900 $80. Whats everybodies opinion?

Well, my mag 18 is dead silent. It is the pondmaster variation with the 18 foot cord.It does use a few more watts than some other more effiecent pumps. The piece of mind I get out of running a danner mag drive is by far worth it. Not to mention I paid $30 for my pump(got the hookup, bought a bunch of'em)
