Which LED for Actinic supplement?

Reef Brites would be my top choice but budget has me limited right now. I did get the Reef Bar but I cant give any feed back at this point because it does not work! I ordered the power supply for it and the power supply lights up but the LED bar does not. Even tried another power supply. So I am waiting to hear back from the seller. So far Ebay LEDs have not gone well for me.

Buying right the first time is cheaper than buying wrong twice :)

Just providing a follow up on my Orphek LED bar that I ordered. It arrived today and I installed it. I had ordered a custom actinic bar, where I removed some of the 410 nm and added in some 460 nm blues.

I haven't had much time to look at it, but it definitely provides more "pop" than my kessils even if I run the kessils at a very low color setting. The violet / pink hue is not really that noticeable in my opinion, which I attribute to the removal of some of the 410 nm and adding in the 460 nm (note: the 48" bar usually has 28, 410 mm and 8, 430 mm. My bar was 20:8:8 of 410:430:460). Overall I think the blend I used turned out okay. I could have probably bypassed the 460 nm blues as I have my kessils also providing plenty of blue, but I was just afraid of it being too much without the substitution. I ran the bar by itself without my kessils, and it definitely provides that black light type of look if ran by itself (but I didn't think it was too much...I really liked the blend I used I think).

I'll comment more later as I get more time to actually see them on and get my kessil color tweaked with the bar on also. I have not had a chance to see the bar with my T5s on either. I suspect there just won't be enough actinic to make a noticeable difference (visually) with my 6 T5 bulbs on, but I'm curious to see how it all blends together.

I have some Orphek bar lights, and need to test them. With that said, biomedical researchers found that 470nm light is a universal source for excitation/fluorescence (provided, of course, that the fluorescent emission is greater than 470nm.)

Im sure the Orphek bars are awesome and im sure they put out some good par and pur.

Updated on my Reef Bar. I heard back from the seller and was told I must have gotten one of their newer bars and it needs a reverse polarity adapter. I got said adapter today and the light works. Its dimmable too which is nice but only with the remote and since I am hooking it up to my Reef Keeper I cant use the dimmer, all good since I plan to run it at full power. The light is fairly bright, lights up my 75g pretty well. My MH lights totally over power it though.
