Which LEDs give the best fluorescence?

Hi guys,

I have Kessils which don't give great fluorescence and I'm looking to supplement that. I've bought Reefbrite xho strips but they're not a very deep blue.

Which lights do you find give the best fluorescence?

Did you swap the reef breeders out for these or is it a different tank? Interested to hear how you are liking them in comparison.

The AliExpress bars with the 470nm (unmodified) really make things pop. I ran them for actinics only at the end of the day with my Radions. Very affordable too!

Reefbrite is as actinic as I’ve seen… did you get the full actinic or 50/50s?

Orphek blue plus or uv/violet bars

the blue plus has a good amount of UV and obviously the uv/violet does as well, this will make things fluoresce

Yup. I vote 470nm LED bars too. provide great pop.

I’ve got orphek blue plus and reef brite blues. I can’t tell much difference in color, but I like the reef brite reflectors.

Swapped them out recently - the Kessils make the tank look much better but i'm missing the really deep blues of the Evergrows...

Full actinic - they're good, just not quite as good as my Evergrows were...

Ya I really like the spectrum and shimmer from the Kessils. To bad they don’t make things pop like you want but I’m sure you will figure out some light bars. Reef breeders does have some so maybe their bars would give more of the colour you are after. Could also email Reef breeders and ask Logan what he thinks would mimic the blues best.

...the ones that have the corals otherwise lit with more daylight spectrum except when you are trying to get them to pop. If the ReefBrites are not getting the job done, then the corals probably don't have the color to be popped. You cannot fluoresce color that is not there and daylight develops it the best.

I think he is meaning he can’t get the same pop as he was getting from the blue spectrum on the reef breeders he had originally on the same tank/corals. How long has it been since you switched Alex? I wonder if just having them under the kessil spectrum for long enough has changed the colours a bit or affected how fluorescent they are?

Correct. Established tank, same corals, just changed the light.

A month or so now. No, it's definitely not the corals - I noticed the difference instantly. I'll probs just leave it though - it still looks awesome!
