Which light to use ??

Still not 100% sure I will not just get a larger tank but currently building out a 40 breeder .. I plan on going BB have a MP40, MP10 for flow and have nice sump w/ skimmer coming soon ..
I was really thinking of going 1 XR15 to cover it (yes I may have some low light/shade spots ) .
Now I see AI prime are on sale so I may just go w/ 2 . What you all think .??

Either of those are really good lights. I still stand behind @noopsyche lights for their cost and quality. Either way I wish you the best of luck

So glad you asked this question, as I’m planning a 40 breeder build as well and looking at the same question. I don’t think a single xr15 will cover a 40 breeder adequately. But the cost of two xr15s vs two ai prime 16hds is hard to stomach when making the budget. Yes, the radion is the better light, but for twice the cost better? I’d really like to see some others opinions on this. Good luck!

I was going to go with two Prime's on my 40b as I already had one but went with 2 Smatfarm 90w lights. Very happy with them and got both for just a tad over the price of a single Prime. I have heard good things about the Noopshyc as well.

My frag tank is a 40 breeder and while you can get away with just one light, 2 will give you much better spread.
Lighting very much just depends on what you want (popular name brands vs. black box) and budget.
When I switched my 210 over to led, I tried several of the black box leds, only one I cared for was Viparspectra, Viparspectra by far has the best color spectrum out of all the black box leds I tried and I tried several.
I made sure I ordered from Amazon, that way if I didn’t like one, I could send back hassle free. And boy did they go back, lol!
if your going to order black box leds that are sold on Amazon, I would get Viparspectra.

I have also heard very good things about Noopsche, sp?
We just recently setup a 40 breeder upstairs, my main system is in basement.
I plan on ordering a Noopsche for the upstairs tank. It will be interesting to see how they compare to the Viparspectra.

Be careful if you go with black box leds, do your research.

It depends on what you are trying to keep, 1 xr15 you may be able to keep a couple sps in the center very high up and lps and softies down low but not very far to the sides. I would definitely go with 2 lights and if budget is the concern I would go with the 2 AI's or look at the noopsyche lights others have talked about.
