I know this is probably a loaded question, but...

I'm consider setting up an acrylic tank but I don't know which lights I would need for it. I'd like to have coral along with the fish. Since this is a fairly deep tank @ 30", I'm guessing I would need pretty powerful lights. I'd like to stay around 450-500.

I've been looking around but there's so many option for shallower tanks.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

ORPHEK v4 or AI Hydras.... ive used kessil ap700, radions, t5 hybrid.... those are best imo... do you know how high above the water your lights will be? Par should be MAX 500 at about 2 in below surface .... you will prob be happy w anything higher than 20 at the bottom... all depends on coral type and placement and desired spectrum

I don't have a height preference. The top of the tank is roughly 5'10 so we won't be looking down from the top. I'd set the height to whatever is required to penetrate that depth.

Any of those lights would be more than powwrful enough at 8-12 inches above waterline for running the highest lighting demand corals. 2 hydras 52’s or 2 v4’s.... i have same dimesions and it runs 4 hydra 26’s or 2 ap700’s... also consider glass instead of acrylic if you can

reefbreeders has decent leds too i have a photon 50 over my 60x24x24 and covers it pretty nice

T5/LED hyrbid would be my choice. T5 will offer main coverage and you can add the LED’s as you can afford them. Plus the end results will be very good.

ATI all the way you will get the full coverage and will grow any coral
