I understand. I'm following the thread. I'm getting ready to start-up my first SW tank and trying to make the most informed decision(s) i can. Truthfully, I am trying to decide whether spending premium dollars for Tropic Marin Pro is worth the extra cost or if i'll be fine with a quality marine salt at half the price. thx for your comment.

Red Sea blue bucket. But it really depends on what levels you want to keep. If I wanted higher levels I’d go with Red Sea Pro black bucket. Been using the blue bucket for years as I keep levels closer to nsw. Hasn’t let me down from batch to batch.

My main goal, at least at the beginning, is to concentrate on Zoas, clam(s), and a few fish. But above everything the Zoas are my main interest... everything else is secondary. thx for the comment.

I have used Live Aquaria professional reef salt for 2 years now and I don’t think I would change for the price point and quality .Iboth of my tanks have looked great! Mixes very easy , no residue and Really good calcium/magnesium values

D&D H2Ocean Pro would be my choice for water changes. Always been consistent for me over the years

I prefer to shoot for as close to NSW levels as possible because when running an automated system of mineral replacement like a calcium reactor/ 3 part / kalk reactor your salt should be the params you want to keep, because they will eventually match the parameters of your salt mix if you are performing water changes.

The most readily available salt on the market currently that's really close to NSW levels is Red sea blue bucket I believe.

I switched from HW to brightwells Neomarine and have been happy so far. I really like the fact that a 150 gallon bucket actually mixes 150 gallons at 1.026. Most do not.
