Hello, I'm currently torn between 2 nitrate dosing products. MEcoral Advanced Grade Liquid Nitrate and Brightwell Neo-Nitro.
MEcoral nitrate has all 3 sodium, calcium, potassium nitrate and im unsure whats in neo nitro.
My nitrates are currently at 1ppm (from Red Sea Algae Control Pro Test Kit).
The tank is a 80g and its a frag tank primarily stocked with zoas, macro algae, and softies.
I fed a half cube of frozen mysis every day which brought nitrates at 5ppm and thats when the zoas started to explode in growth. I would like to achieve that number again. Which product do you guys recommend?

randy holmes recommended sodium nitrate to me and its in one of his threads. its pure and contains nothing else. one bottle last a long time. its on amazon. made by loudewolf

I wonder what the difference between potassium nitrate (stump remover) and sodium nitrate is?

I know either one works.
i think dosing potassium nitrate will increase potassium which is good for those who are testing for potassium in their sps dominated. If your coral doesn’t use up much potassium and dosing is continued then you risk having high potassium which i think can affect coral health. i think sodium nitrate can be dosed until one reaches the desired number since sodium is just salt but idk lol.
the one xabo said is correct
cool i’ll buy this then. does anyone know a link for a dosing calculator for this?

I ordered this and it seems like it will last forever.

I didn’t think about the potassium becoming elevated over time though.

patw seems to have a calculation for his

honestly ive been following randy recipe for the stump remover even tho im doing just sodium nitrate. its a little weaker but it makes over dosing not as easy. I start low and then each day add one more ml until you hit your sweet spot. youll have to check it each day to make sure it doesn't keep rising.

anytime. I was dosing about 10 ml to keep my 75 around 12 with the skimmer running 24/7. I then added more fish and now im done to around 3 to 4 ml a day so you kinda have to pay attention to what your doing. if you start feeding more then youll need to turn it down some and vice versa.

gotcha, i can’t wait to see my zoas explode in growth again!

I have tried a rather direct approach to my 30g home office tank with low nitrates, which I believe is one of the causes of a dinoflagellate problem. My 75 g living room DT has had some issues with high nitrates, so I have been dong my water changes from the 75 to the 30 and 30 down the drain. After the first few WC (~5-6 gallons) the nitrates in the 30 dropped back to unmeasurable in a day or so. A larger WC seemed to do the trick for getting a baseline level of nitrates to get the 30 on track.

Just a different approach that was an interesting experiment.

Then last week I made a major dosing error in the 75, so I have a different problem to deal with there....
