We all have our favorite corals, types of corals etc. But for many of us we have that one particular type of coral that really draws us in and that's the types of corals we like best. Yes that can change from time to time but if you were to pick what type of reefer you are today what would you say?

Which type of coral do you love the best TODAY? SPS, LPS, Zoas, Soft, Mushrooms, NPS etc. (yes I realize some of these are the same)

Where's the option for all of the above? Or anemones? I'm sure some of us are okay with being lumped into a single category but the mixed reefers need love too! lol

Oh I'm a mixed guy but I'm forcing you to pick one dang it! :p

other,

I love them all. Sadly, all of them may not get along. Pick and choose your battles. I am with lps and some sps. A few zoas.

I do love them puffed up trachyphyllia and waving goniopora.

Mixed reef. I love the movement of LPS and softies, but I also love the challenge of SPS and think they create that authentic "reef" look (especially the staghorns).

Hammer. Torches. Nems. Trachy. Lobo. Zoas. Duncans. Favia. Greene star. Birds nest . slimer. Mixed for sure.

... what type of reefer you ....

Confused, .... very confused .... o_O

This poll question reminds me of when I fist started my interest in reefing and noted the coral terminology. LPS, NPS, SPS, ..... "Holly Octocorallia Batman !"

And oh, the pictures ! How can species in the same Order look totally different ?!?

I was baffled for weeks. ........
I read books on coral classification. That was as painful as reading the tax code!
I scanned websites only to find that many rarely agreed.
I tried studying journal papers only to realize that scientists rearrange coral names more often than a casino dealer shuffles cards !

So this novice likes the inexpensive, colorful, low light requiring, parameter friendly, aptasia resistant, flow impervious, algae & Dino. killing coral that will not sting me or the other inhabitants.

Yours in dreaming,
Jim

Started with softies, and zoas. moved on to LPS, and now mostly SPS dominate.

I think it's just the natural progression of the hobby. Start out with easy corals(softies), then move on to some easy stonies(LPS), then when you get good at them, of course you want to try your hand at the cutting edge of the hobby(SPS).

I went to a reefers house from the local reef club to buy coral not too long, and saw for first time, sps 'colonies' in person.

It's weird to imagine that Acropora look different than they do when they are frags, but they really do- they look so freakin sweet in person.
