Which PH test to trust?

I just got the PH Hanna tester and I felt like it was reading too low so I ordered the Salifert PH kit. I thought I had calibrated the PH tester right but something is still off. Would the Salifert be more accurate to where the tank is at?

I would trust the Hanna pH pen. When in doubt, recalibrate.

I’ll order more calibration fluid then. I forgot to mention I had gotten it used, so who knows if it was properly stored or not…

Real time PH in the water, VS. taking water out of the tank, swirling it(adding O2) by adding reagents, then taking a reading. The color chart also assume you can interpret the color correctly(IME the colors almost never match up perfectly in any color comparison test)

I would trust the hanna meter over a color chart if properly calibrated.

I'd trust the Hanna provided that the electrode has been stored wet.

If not it may need a replacement electrode.

The problem with test kits is that it is not easy to check them, while it is easy to check a pH meter in a calibration fluid.

I actually use 2 pinpoint ph monitors for redundancy. I leave them on all the time with the probes in my sump. Only issue is changing batteries every few months and purchasing 2 probes about every year and a half or sooner if they get buggy. Oh, also calibrating them every other month or so. Tried the ac adapter instead of batteries but there was too much interference and got crazy reading for some reason.
