Which Radion should I purchase

I currently have a few black box's over my mixed reef. I have an apex and thought some day it would be nice to upgrade to a Radion so it could be controlled via my apex. My question, with the new G5's out now I am sure some older ones will be hitting the used market. I have no experience at all with Radion's, is there any specific generation that I should stay away from? For example, is everything from say a 3rd or 4th generation to recent reliable? What are the benefits of purchasing a new G5 over one of the older ones?

Your radion won’t be controlled by you apex, you’ll either use ecosmart live on gen 4 and older or Mobius for gen 5

I would just go ahead and get some G4's. They are the last and latest version that can be controlled with the Apex and a WXM module. I plan on buying G5's for my upgrade, but I will not be able to use the Apex to control them. I currently have G4's on my hybrid and love them.

Take a look at the ReeFi lights, they are outstanding and have WiFi control. I got rid of 4 G5’s and went to 3 Duo Extremes and couldn’t be happier

completely incorrect.

I know Gen 4 for sure CAN be controlled via Apex with a WXM module. Gen 1 to Gen 3, I'm not sure.

These seemed like a nice light till i saw they are 650-750, i can get a g5 for 420 at brs

The ReeFi Duos are XR30 replacements not XR15s.

Now is the time to grab a good deal on some gen 4 Radions. I did.
I'd wait on gen 5's.

This is what i was thinking, whats difference between gen 3 and 4? A gen 3 would be even less money, are they worth it?

Where did you find a good deal on G4’s I can’t find any. The ones I do find are normal price.

Just got to look around.
I found someone that had 3 unopened gen4's, for $300 less than gen5's. Maybe $100 off retail. ( can't remember what they were going for last year)
I see gen4 pros mostly in the dry goods fs forum for hundreds off the cost of a new one.
I guess it just depends on what you expect

I would as thinking you found them brand new from an online retailer like BRS. That’s is a good deal you found there.
