I am moving my fish over from my 20G to my 80G this weekend after over a month of setting it up.

I have a Bashsea sump with a large skimmer compartment.

I like the Reef Octopus skimmers but there are too many to choose from.

There is an EsSence, classic, Regal, etc.

Which one is really the best/newest/most modern/future proof?

It’s hard to find information about all these product lines.

Thanks for any help!

I currently use the Reef Octopus 110INT on my 40 Breeder with a 20 sump and love it. Pulls a good skim, never given me an issue, and the break in period was relatively quick. For your tank size though i'd consider the Reef Octopus 150INT https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reef-octopus-classic-150int-6-internal-protein-skimmer.html

I have the EsSence in my Reefer 170 and it is great super quiet and more than enough skimmer

What’s the difference between the Essence and the 110/150INT?

I purchased the essence 130 last month, it’s doing a great job skimming in my 90g. Only thing I found out is that there is no neck skimmer for the essence, it was an upgrade was interested in getting soon. The cup gets smelly from the residue in a couple days even with the wate collector add-on.

I was talked into the corallife skimmer from my LFS back in June when I started my tank and I hated it the whole time. The essence though isn’t too big and it’s very effective.

I have the regal 200 on 90 gallons, probably overkill but I love the DC pump and the float switch etc. It never fills up between cleanings.

I have regals on all my tanks actually. They seem to be better than the other couple I've had

I have a Reef Octopus Classic 110 Space Saver on my tank (about 80 gallons total including sump) and have been super happy with it. And I like that it only uses 9 watts. I got the space saver version because I did not have a ton of room in my sump, but even if I had more room I think I'd still go with the space saver just to leave room for other stuff in the sump. You'd probably want the 150 if you wanted to go that route.

It sounds like I can’t go wrong with any of these! Everyone sounds like they have had great success across all the lines

I have the essence. I love the adjustment knob and cleaning is very easy with no tools needed to disassemble
