So I really want to prevent problematic pests. I want to find a good Wrasse to help with pest control but I am worried about my inverts. It seems like all the Wrasse I see Ryan from BRS recommend to prevent pests seem to go after small inverts. The ones it seems are small invert safe are more water column hunters not rock or sand. Anyone have any good recommendations?

Never had issues with yellow corris wrasses and they are one of the best at pest control.

I was considering the Yellow Corris until I saw this:

I have fan worms and my CUC shrimp and crabs so that is my concern. I don't want those guys eaten off. I love my Skunk shrimp way too much to risk them.

This generally applies to most of the wrasses but again it differs from one wrasse to another. I tried three and they didn’t touch anything “desirable” nor did my malinarus wrasse. Others experiences might differ.

Yeah and thats why I am here making this post looking for peoples experiences with different wrasse. I am mostly worried about the peppermint and skunk shrimps.

Although it may not be the case for every yellow coris wrasse, my sweet Banana Boy is very docile and keeps to himself. I’ve kept him with small peppermint shrimp with no issues.

Cleaners are often disregarded as prey items due to how useful they are to predatory fish. If you don’t want to risk it as much, stick with the 3-4” guys such as Halichoeres iridis, Halichoeres chrysus, Halichoeres leucoxanthus, Halichoeres timorensis ect…
If you want to stay on the safest side and have no aggressive fish at all then go for a Pseudocheilinops ataenia. These are truly a fish that hate aggression during introduction. They also won’t go for the larger pests and go for the smaller guys like young flatworms.
