Which Refractometer?

There's a million different hydrometers on Amazon... Which one do I want???

Hydrometer is a different thing than a Refractometer. I bought mine from BRS, and its held up well.

This one ( Amazon.com: Salinity Refractometer, Aquarium & Seawater - Dual Scale (1.0 to 1.070 S.G.) by Agriculture Solutions: Pet Supplies ) looks simiar, but I can't vouch for its quality.

You want one that has the better scale (1.015 - 1.030) and make sure to pick up calibration solution as well (don't use DI water). Both those links are from Marine Depot, not sure what's on Amazon.

Get the ATC refractometer with calibration fluid

I agree....the Milwaukee MA887 Digital Refractometer is incredibly quick and accurate and has some important features (such as automatic temperature correction).

This is the one I bought on Black friday last year (2012). I got a great deal on it, and from what I can tell, it is super accurate. It comes with everything you need.

You just need to wait about 1-2 minutes before getting the correct reading off of it. It will say for example 1.025 on it imeediately but then if you wait 2 minutes then it will say 1.026 for good.

I don't have either. I am looking to purchase one. I have a manual one on order from DFS just for ***** and giggles but Id really like a digital display for redundancy.

I use the hanna but from what I understand both companies are the same. You do have to calibrate it every time you use it. I keep calibration solution to ensure a proper reading.

I have the same one and got it from BRS I am very happy with it :smile: the only thing is they need a strong light to read them I wish they made one with a LED built into it since the room my Display Tank is in is dim, just a minor issue I use a high power Coast LED Lenser to read the Refractometer also all the RefractometersI have seen look like they are made by the same company but the scales in then seem to vary. I would get one from BRS 99% of their stuff is top notch.....
