Hello, I need some suggestions, I am going with a Eshopps Refugium R-100 3rd Gen. to serve a 70 gallon reef. What return pump would you use? How much turnover would you like on a refugium and 70 gallon reef tank? Ideas? I cannot drill, and will also need advice on which HOB overflow.
thanks! Todd

For a 70 gallon i'd go with the Eshopps PF800 hang on back overflow. Its good for up to 800 gallons per hour. And then match it with the sicce syncra 4.0 which is adjustable from I believe 300gph up to 900gph. Generally (depended on what setup you're running) you want 5 to 7 times turnover through your sump, unless you are planning on implementing the Triton method which requires 10X turnover. The setup i've listed will be able to do both for you :)

great, the sicce 4.0 is one of my options I have already looked at. I was considering CPR vs Eshopps, the only reason I was looking at CPR was the aqualifter, but they are more expensive.
thanks for the advice!

If it helps any, I've used the PF300 before my drilled tank, and it never gave me an issue. Used it for two years. What I would actually do, is get the PF1000 (dual drain) and set it up herbie style with a gate valve. That way it'll be dead silent and you won't have to mess with gurgling noise. The only downfall is you don't have a second intake on that sump, but you could have the emergency drain simply empty into your fuge. Up to you :)

ok.... I'll have to do some research on that "herbie" style, to get a grip on what you mean. :o)
