building my 150 (currently have a 40) and want to buy a RO/DI system. Only problem is I don't know anything about them. Which one do you recommend? I don't need more than 75 or 100 gpd. Price is always a consideration, but quality is more important. Thanks in advance.

Just got an email from Spectra pure . 90 gallon ro/di refurbs are 125.00 again . Pick up a hand held tds meter and ur golden .

completely agree, I have the same unit. I would suggest a booster pump, I have mine so I am getting 100psi at the membrane and it doubled my output and made the filter more efficient

When shopping for a RODI unit I discovered the units are pretty much the same. Now for my advice get clear canisters so you can see any discoloration in your media like your DI resin. Install a TDS meter into the system. It will provide you valuable information with quality into the system and quality out of the system and will be your best indication of when it is time to change your filters. Also consider are you making RODI as you go as a top off or are you planning on making and storing water? I like recommend taking a look at "The Filter Guys site they have several choices and are top notch to deal with. A RODI system is an investment in this hobby that pays for its self in savings from not having to purchase water. and with a 150 you will need it.

They do not come any better than Spectrapure period. They are the only vendor with an engineering staff that actually researches and develops many of the products they sell and hold many patents, copyrights and trademarks to prove it. They are innovators not imitators. The others mentioned sell normal off the shelf untested products. 25+ years in the RO/DI business and tens of thousands of hours of research and development really do make a difference.

For $125 you can have an excellent basic reef quality system or for a little more you can have the best RO/DI on the planet, the MaxCap.
SpectraPure - Great Deals on All your Water Management needs!

Ask the other vendors if they treat and test their RO membranes to both improve their performance and for quality control. Ask them if they custom blend every ounce of their DI resins for reef specific duties? Also ask them if they use the better absolute rated filters of the lower efficieny nominal rated filters?
