I have to spend under 200$ I would like to spend MAX 150$ if possible but I will shell out the extra if its absolutely necessary. I have been looking into getting an RO/DI unit. I have read on the forums here that bulk reef supply has good units. IS this unit

BRS 4 Stage Value RO/DI System - 75GPD - Value Systems - Reverse Osmosis Systems - Bulk Reverse Osmosis Filters & Systems - Bulk Reef Supply

Going to be enough for me? I have a 55 bow front, 20 long, and soon enough a Ecopico (5 gallon). I keep mainly lps, and a few sps with zoas in a low bio load setting for all 3 of the tanks. I do smaller water changes every week.

In your opinion will this suffice if I keep up with changing the filter ect...or should I get all these fancy extras and plus value stuff? Let me know please! Thanks in advance!

That system would be more than ample. I'm a bit biased toward Russ at Buckeye Field Supply, but there's a few good ones out there. Spectrapure systems are nice, as our systems built by The Filter Guys. The fittings, filter quality, and customer service are what set these guys apart from the Ebay vendors.

My favorite in your price range is this one: http://www.buckeyefieldsupply.com/showproducts.asp?Category=168&Sub=166

I
t comes with a TDS meter, great filters, all the tubing you need, reusable DI cartridge, (etc, etc...) and outstanding customer service.

No, I don't work for any of these guys... I'm just a more than happy client. FWIW, Russ was up emailing back and forth with me at 2:00AM once... just to help me out with a little problem I was having with a unit that I didn't even buy from him! That's class.

Spectrapure of Buckeye, nothing else compares.
You can get a 150 GPD Spectrapure with 1 micron absolute rated sediment filter, 1 micron carbon block, specially treated and batch tested high rejection rate 150 GPD RO membrane and a full size 20 oz vertical refillable DI filter with fresh reef specific hand blended SilicaBuster DI resin for $150. It also has an inline pressure gauge and capillary tube flow restrictor.

Buckeye has their 75 GPD Premium which is similar except the RO membrane is 75 GPD, untreated and untested, and the DI resin is not hand blended based of thousands of hours of testing in reef specific applications but does include a handheld TDS meter for $169.\

Filter Guys and BRS are not even close in quality nor lifespan, they only sell basic off teh shelf stuff you can ge tanywhere and the prices really aren't that great for what you get. Spectrapure has been doing reef RO/DI for over 25 years and Russ has been around a long time also, it pays to go with someone who knows what they are doing.

A third you may look at is www.purelyh2o.com , their Optima series are good values.

Ended up ordering the 177$ one from buckeye last night, After reading up a bit it seems they have a heck of a good product and service. It should be shipping out soon, thanks all :)

I got my brs 5stage plus for 189. I couldn't be happier. It came with a dual tds meter pressure gauge flush kit and ofcourse all the filters. I couldn't be happier and the fittings are fantastic. Not to mention all of the fittings to connect it that they give you as well. It is a quality kit.

Just wanted to throw a shout out @ Flipside and AZ, I just got my RO/DI in tonight, set it up (very easy) and now im running 001ppm for the first gallon! Im excited to be doing things right on the water end. O and by the way im checking ppm with my fancy digital hand held TDS meter, very cool. Thanks you all!

Make sure you flush the filters, membrane and DI seperately before making any water for use. If you don't at least remove the DI and flush the membrane you can shorten the resin life.
