so im looking to see what would do best in the 60 Shallow tank we have witch it a 60DB tank 48x24x12 wanted to go a different route then the koriella pumps we have running.

would 2 mp10s be to little? its SPS Heavy and Zoas and Bubble tips.

Also we just plumbed a 30G rimmless to the 60G so i wanted to no should i get 1 MP10 For that? that tank is SPS heavy and only SPS. any input will help thanks. Never had this pump before so wanted to know your thoughts! .

thanks as always

I'd go with MP10 if you're determined to use Ecotech...maybe MP20 if you need a lot of flow in the 60...I think the MP40 would be too much. I personally would recommend a WP10 or WP 25 for the 30 and WP25 (or WP40 if you need lots of flow) for the 60.

well wp40 would be overkill for the 30G its 24x24x12

i was using a wp25 on a 34Solana before it was okay but i had sand. this 30G we dont ahve sand its bare bottom so its better but the 60G has sand

Rob, it's late, bud. Reread my post. LOL

My recommendations (depending on flow needs):

30g = WP10 or WP25

60g = WP25 or WP40

Ahhhhh now i see spaced out. :P

yea that should be good. i mean i guess i will go the wp route. save some dang money. ill convince my girl to go that route as well cause she wanted to do mp's im sure she will do the WP's cause we are running them right now anyways on the display.

For what it's worth, I've used MPs and WPs. The MPs have the benefit of keeping cables out of the tank and taking up less room...but they are MUCH louder than the WPs...I didn't like the noise...and the price difference was too much to ignore. I sold my MPs and have not regretted it yet.

I have 2 mp40's on a 60x28x28 tank along with a wave box. Plenty of flow at 60% power. The nice thing with vortech is the ability to dial in your flow.

I live by go big or go home... so go mp40 and just turn in down. You won't regret it cause you can use it anytime in the future in any size tank.

MP10's would work. I have them on my 120. They are cranked up all the way. I really could not get more flow because they blow the sand from the middle of the tank to the sides. The only thing I would look into is the thickness of glass. The magnet on the MP10 is much smaller. I have replaced the wet side on mine after only one year.

Thanks guys. went the WP10 route for the 30Rimless.

we just bought the new upgrade. details further to come in a different thread. i can say its a 120G 48x24x24. :)

So true...u get a better value buying big and you can always use it in any other application...I have an mp40 that I used to use in my 125 but its at 50% in my 60 cube...between that and my return nozzle..there is plenty of circulation!!

i have 2 wp25s already for almost a year or how ever long they been out. and i have 2 new wp10s. i might get a wp40 and another wp 25.

Jeboa. I sampled a MP10 and the Jeboa 25…way better and you are able to direct the flow.

Plus the headphone look is nasty imo.

Not being able to get directional flow is what kills the Vortechs. What brand 30 gallon are you getting? I have a 30 gallon deep blue frag tank that I turned into a shallow reef. Has one MP10 and I feel it needs another just because of the lack of Directional flow. Im looking into the 25 for that reason. Vortechs running profiles are great they just cant beat the WP's on price and what I mentioned.

I have a 40g rimless and I use the MP40. I got it on Kijiji for $60 because he couldn't fix it, but ya, I thought it would be overkill. It wasn't at all.

I run it at like 15%-40% with a shallow sandbed, it used to make the sand constantly move but after a while it balanced out.
