In-Sump Skimmers:
Bubble Magus NAC3.5
or
Icecap K2-50

There's probably at least a dozen different skimmers that fit into this category. I think I've narrowed it down to these two. Please speak up if you have either and consider it a piece of junk... and explain why, please.

Would you prefer some other skimmer?
Why?

Low bioload mixed reef, but mostly LPS, zones and palys. No softies (mushrooms or leathers) and definitely no SPS. Pretty basic. Not looking to get on the cover of a magazine.

I will have a refugium of at least 10g capacity, probably closer to 20g.

No turf scrubber.

+/- 1.5 -- 2lbs of live rock per gallon, sump, skimmer, refugium.

Couple fish that are small and will stay relatively small. Normal CUC minus the crabs.

I have a sca 301 skimmer rated for a 65 gallon on my 40 breeder and it works great, i was a little skeptical at first becaus it is so cheap but every review and video I found on it said nothing but good things and they were right.

I looked at that on fleebay and was skeptical because of the price. Thanks for the response!

No complaints so far and does a great job pulling out skim, I need to empty it out every 2 days because it does such a good job and very quiet.

Reef Octopuss classic 110 is what I use in a 20L sump for my 40B display. Small footprint, great skimmer.

I've got a used Reef Octopus 150 that I haven't used yet. It's too big for a 40g tank.

Kinda wanted to try a different brand.

My sump will be a 30L.

I ran a SAC 302 on my 40b and it did great, had a RO NW110 before that and it was great until the pump died. SCA skimmers used be sell for even cheaper and quality for the cost blew me away.
