Ok so this is where I'm at with my 40 gallon breeder. I am currently running a 300w 30" led, 45 lbs live rock, 30lbs sand, a maxi jet 600 and a cheap 1600gph power head, an aqeon quite flow 55/75 filter. I am fixing to do a sump still deciding on weather to get a drilled 40 or just a 750gph or 1100gph overflow box. Need advice on which u all skimmer to go with as well. The only fish I plan on having in this tank in the long run is a pair of snowflake clowns. Pretty much just a reef tank. Any advice is very appreciated, thank you all

BTW this tang will only be in my 40 for around 3 months and then will be in my 220g as soon as its cycled and stable

I am wanting to do an in sump but if there are some hob recommendations I am open to anything

I have the Aquamaxx Co-1, which I love. The footprint is only about 7 x 8 inches. That is nice because you can fit it into a smaller area than some of the others. The pump sits directly under the skimmer, rather than off to the side. $290. I know $.... but you really shouldn't skimp on a skimmer. I did before and regretted it for a long time (7 years). I used to have a cpr backpack, not good at all.

Thank you. I have learned you get what you pay the hard way. That's the reason my 220 won't be up for a few months. I am saving for the Reef Octopus ELITE 220int skimmer. My girl gets ticked anytime I mention I'm getting it lol $699

I have the Skimz Monzter SH2 that allows it to remain external to my 40B. You can find it at BRS. It took it a few days to break in but I'm very pleased.

Good luck,

Adam

What is your water level in the sump area where you want to put the skimmer cause that will dictate which skimmer you can run. For instance my sump runs kinda high and has 9.5-10" of water so I went with the Bubble Magus Curve 5 that likes 9-12" of water.

I don't have it yet but its an eshoppe 75g rated sump so I can't answer that question sadly
