Just glancing at their specs I would have to say that both are a little under-powered for a 125 gallon. The ASM G-2 is up to 100 gallons, and the Hydor 100-150. If I had the choice I would try to trade in both for something with a little more oomph.

Not sure which Hydor skimmer you are referring to. But I have first hand experience with the Hydor Performance 1005 and I can say it works great. It's set up on a 190g at a retirement home.
