Hi, setting up a 250 gal display with 80 gal sump (prob. about 50 gal of h20)...so about a 300 gal total volume. Mixed reef and eventually heavy bioload.

Choices:
1. Aquamaxx em300...rated for 240 (heavy bioload) to 400 gal light bioload..270 gph intake...

2. Bubble magus B11....rated for up to 750 gallons...not sure about bioload and ratings for this one...610 gph intake..

The aquamaxx is used but bubble magus is new never used. Would sell the bubble magus if aquamaxx should work well.

I don't know if you are going to need a skimmer thats rated at 750 gallons. I do like the brand bubble magus though (I have a bubble magus skimmer)

New would be better in my opinion. Magus also should handle the heavier biolode with ease.

Thanks for the responses. I just wasnt sure if the bubble magus is going to be too big for my system. Some say if the skimmer is too big o2t sits idle too much and you have fluctuations in DOCs that is not great for the system.
