Which Tang?

I saw a small sailfin at Petco last night and it looked great - and was only $75! I SO badly wish I had a large enough tank. If I did I would've snagged it in a heartbeat. They're beautiful! But I hear they're very fast growers.
I’ve seen them at Petco for that price too! I was pumped—I got mine for $40. And it is super healthy, great coloration. I’m very excited to watch it grow!

These tangs can get 4” within a year when they’re fed properly.
Im not trying to say you’re bad (I have been caught in this same trap) however just wanted to boost your knowledge :)
Thanks! Wow, 4” in a year? That’s a fast growing fish. He’s been eating a ton of algae, so there’s a chance he will get there!

Do you have a photo?
The reason you may find this species was cheaper is due to the species you often see being the Desjardini and the Veliferum is often much cheaper (I wouldn’t say common, I’ve found them to occur much less frequently than their cousins).

I have a sopas tang, and 2 small snowflake eels, they all get along well. I am soon going to add 2 lemonpeel tang for breeding and beauty.
Sorry for the typo, i meant Scopas tang, the lemon peel angels are doing great. They gave me a bonus blue hippo tang. He was super tiny, he seemed healthy and was following my scopas tang around. The other tank mates seemed to all treat him with love, he was eating well and very active, but sadly on his 3rd day i woke to find him dead with no signs of attack from the other fish. I read online they are being aquacultured and some are super tiny and fragile. So much for my bonus cute baby dora
