I need to replace my tank as I cracked it yesterday

So I have a line on a 90 gallon with stand and canopy, it will need to be resealed and the canopy is only like 6" tall
Its $200

I can get a brand new 65 breeder that will fit my stand and canopy that I had the tank on that cracked, the canopy is like 14" tall so it will allow me to get the lights higher
Its $240

The 90 is a bean overflow

The 65 is a corner overflow

I have a skimmer and sump that will work for either one

Wife likes the idea of a black stand and canopy and that is what the 90 is.

The other stand and canopy is stained and custom built

I'm torn since I like the foot print of the 65 and the taller canopy, but the 90 will be a bigger tank

I have to have a canopy as the wife doesn't like the open look plus we have 3 cats that are always looking for trouble

Only you can say what you'd be happy with.

I've run many corner-flo systems, and never really been that thrilled with them. Modern overflow systems consume drastically less real estate, and provide for better performance.

90g standard is just a tall 75. They're a bit tall and narrow for my tastes. 65 breeder is not a size I'm familiar with, but most breeder tanks are wider and shorter. I like wide, so I'd probably go that way.

Your stand and canopy could be painted black, if you like that look.

A new tank, or having to reseal a used one? No question on that one, not in my opinion, anyway. I'm no good with silicone.

I would note this: That glass box, even if you go wild and buy a custom glass aquarium, is NOT going to end up being a large percentage of the total cost of a reef system. Buy one you'll be happy with.

What do you mean, when you say the 90 "will need to be resealed?" If it leaks, I would never recommend that tank..so I guess the 65. If it's just the cosmetic (non-structural) inside silicone, then I would buy the 90 and not worry about resealing it.

The inside silicone looks ruff from the pictures, so that is why im saying I would have to remove it and put new silicone in.

The 65 gallon is 36x18x24

Now If I was to paint the stand and canopy I have now, I would need to look into the best way. Roller brush or sprayer
