Which Temp is preferred?

Ok so you suggested the hygger with the digital controller? The 200 watt?
I would get two 100w versions. Redundancy is key.
And these heaters arent the end all be all choice.
Theres really no definitive answer....theyve just worked flawlessly for me since i got them nearly a year ago.

I explained the difference already. One has a temp probe on an extension where as the inline conteoller heaters usually have the probe at the top of the heating element head which is a bad design for precise temp control.
You can get an inkbird and just be done and keep your malfunctioning heater if you wish....

To answer your original question....aim to keep your tanks temp around 77 to 78 year round.
Dont dial up and down the setpoint on your controller as thats not how to control tank temp.
So then how do you control the tank temp if not with the controller? I'm now completely confused.....

Oh ok...I see I would just use the inkbird with my current heater. Got it! I have never heard of this so I will look it up! Thanks!!
Im just saying....it seems that your heater is malfunctioning by your scenario...if it were me, id return it and get an eheim jager at very least. You can also try the one i sent you a photo of. No need for an inkbird if you get two of those

Plug your heater into an inkbird controller and use it as a failsafe
I have been lazy and run a fan in the cabinet 24/7 and let the heater bring it up to 78. Finally got a new Inkbird, and fan and heater hardly run now, ... should save some on the power. I am pleased with how well it works, I didn't change the heater, and still have it set at 78 for redundancy protection. Temp is much more stable now, adjusted to a 1 degree swing from the defalt of 3 degree swing....don't know if it can be adjusted to half degree or not?

Nice upgrade to temperature in my tank.

One question though, ... do you think the fan running 24/7 or not will affect PH ?

I actually like the idea of an inkbird and there are 2 options and 1 is wifi capable as well. I think I will go that route until I figure what to upgrade to. I am also in the middle of upgrading to a 150 gallon so I will know for next time! Thank you for the great advice!

Keep in mind youll want the model thats probe is suitable for saltwater. Dont buy the model with stainless probe.
OMG glad you said something like an idiot I ordered the wrong one! It was still enough time to cancel and reorder the right one.....thanks agian. It's like you read this rookie's mind ;)
