Which temperature controller?

Hello fellow reefers,

Just looking online into purchasing a temperature controller, thinking about ordering either inkbird or D-D. If anyone uses either how do you find them and which would you recommend.

I have the inkbird and it’s working perfectly so far. Keeping the temp way more stable than its ever been.

+1 on the Inkbird.
I use it to control the temp of the mixing station in the garage with a chiller as it gets to 100 degrees here in Fl. Works like a champ.

I've had nothing but bad luck with the Inkbird controler. Two different ones and they would never keep calibration.

Ranco would be a good choice.

while I am aware of the inkbird, My Willhi has been in service for 4 years without any issues; at $30 it's reliable and easy on the wallet

Questions......

Probe, is it saltwater safe? Does it need to be sealed?

Have you tested it's accurateness against another thermometer?

The probe held up, but probably would be smart to seal it. When I got my apex, both read the same to the 0.1°

i moved it to a freshwater tank this year

I have a Fluke temperature meter that is calibrated. Its very accurate. Would double check the Inkbird controlers against it with it. They would drift wildly out of calibration and I would have to adjust their set points constantly to the point that you couldn't anymore.

I’m still using a digital aquatics PC4 on my 255 gallon tank and it has operated flawlessly for five years now. On my 29 gallon bio cube I just started using a new ink bird 803T and so far it works fine as I have another thermometer in there to check it against, but I wish there was closer set points than one full degree.
