This has probably been discussed in depth, but I'd like current opinions on what type of thermometer people trust the most? Glass? Strip? Digital?
And has anyone found any particular ones consistent and reliable??

I use a probe with my apex. I also use a digital one with a metal end like you would use if you cook meat

I use the cheap digital ones but check every week with an expensive meat thermometer and if its within range I keep using it, if it's a long way off I chuck it away.
They are cheap and easy to move between tanks so can be used to compare between each other. I also triple check with a glass one. You do end up collecting these things over the years.

I use this one from Thermoworks. It is about $20 and is consistent with what my Ranco controller says. Also has an alarm feature.

I also use one of these (~$30) to second-check the digital thermometer above and also check my salt water mix. This is also from Thermoworks. Yes, I like the Thermoworks products. High quality stuff.

I answered in another thread but I use this D-D controller on my tank. It has alarms for high and low. It’s also easy to check at a glance as it’s a decent sized screen and always lit.

I use the Hanna Checktemp1.
I bought 2 about 4 months apart and they both showed the same temperature down to .1 of a degree.

First of all, I love your name. Sir Terry is my favorite author and Wee Mad Arthur is one of my favorite watch members. :D

Anyways, that D-D controller looks great. Do you know if they make a US version, or is it a Europe only product?

I’ve had a look but not finding it in the US which is a surprise. You could try contacting them to check if they do. This is the product page https://www.theaquariumsolution.com/product/3077/273

I spent most of my teens reading Discworld books (I‘m 40 now). I really should get back into them, I know there’s some I haven’t read yet.
