So... I have been testing with my Salifert kit for Nitrates. Lowest I can seem to get it is 25ppm. So, just for pure joy, I tested it with an API kit I had. tested between 5 and zero ppm. HUH?? So, which is correct? I kinda want to lean API because:

1. I have done 2 50 gallon water changes in two weeks
2. It tested at 25 before and after each water change now.
3. Phosphates are .03 per my Hannah.
4. water looks invisible.

Thoughts???

I want to lean to the Salifert because they are supposedly better test kits.

I'd say figure in between the 2. Thats about as precise as you can get anyways. You could order a different brand kit like a red sea or elos and compare as well.

Im thinking ll mix up a few cups of new water tonight and test it with both kits. with 0 on my tds meters I should not have any nitrates in newly mixed waters.

just tryin gto get over these tank health issues I have had. I need a good recovery here.

Well... both were zero with zero nitrates.... so I guess the salifert is the good kit
