Which top off system should i get?

Following along. I've been considering and ATO as well. Looks like the Tunze is very popular.

The dual float valves on an extension cord seems almost unbeatable.

I just bought the Tunze osmolator a few weeks ago... I decided I'd spend the little extra b/c it has such good ratings. Can't say I went wrong.. it's the BEST purchase I've made for my tank yet. Best thing is it has two parts to it.. one is the eye and the other is the floater... if one goes out the float kicks in and since they run differently not likely both will go out... Sorry I'm not savy with the terms but it's a great ATO! :)

+1 for the Tunze! It might be a little more expensive initially, but you can be sure that it has reliable components and a good track record. I supplemented mine with a 15 gal. water can that I camouflaged.

Haha! This is great!

Looks like a piece of furniture, and I extended the wires and water supply hose so they run along the base molding. It doesn't even look like it's connected.

As with everything you get what you pay for, the tunze osmolator is pricey at 200$ but well worth it, it won't fail on you, and considering how much time and money we put in our tanks, having an autofill stick and dump the contents of your top off in your tank would be terrible. It could end up costing way more than the the 200$. Tunze is the best!

I had an Avast Marine ATO on my 90g 2 years ago. It worked like a champ. Now, I have a new nano tank and went with the Tunze Nano Osmolator. This thing is insanely accurate. The difference between this one and the non-nano version is the IR backup. My water level is constant within 1mm. The pump runs for about 2s at most every so often. The backup mechanism on the nano unit is that it won't run for more than 5 minutes. After that, it requires a reset by unplug/plug. No worry for overflowing.

I think Spectrapure tops them all with their UPLC-II. It is similar to the Tunze in that it uses a digital sensor but have a huge amount of adjustability and safety back ups built in at the push of a button. It also comes with the same 3 roller peristaltic pump their popular LiterMeter uses so is bulletproof. I have been using one myself for 5 years now and its a great product.
The manufacture and sell a wide range of level control devices from simple to the UPLC-II and many in between.
