Which vortech mode do you prefer? TSM? Reef Crest? Other?

I got a new Vortech Mp40 last night ,
and I'm trying to decide what mode to run it in. In just reading about the different modes, I really like the TSM (Total Swell Mode) idea, but the Reef Crest (Random) mode seems like a good idea too. Which mode do you use and why?

I like the reef crest mode myself. Is the tank still cycling? I so, play with them all since you don't have to worry about hurting somebody.

Following as I'm too trying to setup my MP40's and have no idea whats best or really what I'm doing lol.

This is what I've set up temporarily on my apex while the tank is cycling to get an idea of some different modes and what not.

I have an MP60 and I like now NTSM moves water but the cycle can get to harsh on my corals at full on. I use Reef Crest because I feel it is more like a actual reef with random flow patterns. Some coral like higher and some lower flow so RC is good for both.

I run Reef Crest at 40% on my BioCube 29. Coral love it and it's a more natural looking flow pattern than say Lagoon (IMO)

In the afternoon it goes through short pulse (wave in the tank from side to side) then nutrient transport in the late evening

I run Lagoon at a relatively lower flow from midnight to 6 am. Then I run Tidal Swell for 3 hours followed by Nutrient Transport for 3 hours. At noon I run expanding pulse mode for a couple of hours and from 2 pm till midnight Reef Crest.

Tidal Swell, NTM and expanding pulse all do a good job of putting detritus in to suspension to remove it through my mechanical filtration. Using all the modes I think provides variability and the kind of chaotic flow that corals thrive on.

I have always used the short or long pulse mode. I will be mixing it up on the new reef!

I have 3 MP40's on a 180. Left side is RC @ 100%. Right side is 100% on Constant. Back runs reefcrest on 50%. I do this for 6 hours and then reverse left and right side. The cycle continues switching every 6 hours.

I have 4 MP40QD's on my 190 gallon reef. 2 on the back wall and 1 on each side.... the backs are running on Lagoon @ 60% sync. And the 2 on each side are running Reef Crest @ 100% Anti-Sync. I have great flow in my display. The SPS corals love it.

I have a MP10 on my 24g office nano tank...currently I have it just at a fixed speed. I do like the VorTech pumps and their many tidal options you can do. I currently have a Maxspect Gyre on my Red Sea Max-500 sitting at one end. It does push a lot of water but I'm thinking after Christmas I may look into 2 Vortech pumps to have on opposite flow setup. I feel that would give good flow to the tank left and right and I won't have worry about any dead spots in the tank. Plus I have one big Colt Coral in the center of my tank that likes to flow back and forth. What size MP would I need on the RS Max 500 (120g DT)??

I have one on constant and the other on reefcrest for 4 hours then I flip them. I do that during the day and replace one 4 hour reefcrest with nutrient transport mode. Then i use both on very low short pulse at night.
