Ok, so in a couple of months I will be moving the contents of my 34g solana into my new DB 80g rimless. The plan is to set this up as a peninsula so the vortech's will be place on one side. I have an mp10 right now that I will be using, my question is should I purchase 1 mp40 to use or 2 more mp10's? This will be a mixed reef..... Thanks for all the help. This is truly the best reef forum out there.

Just for clarification it would be 3 mp10's total, or 1 mp10 and 1 mp40. Anyone else....... Input?

Id use 2 40s always better to go a little more and dial back than to realize you nee more and cant get it. That being said........ used Vortects sell for almost reatil so I cant see it hurting to save some cash.

I used to have 2 MP40's on my 90, now I have one MP40 on my 80... I see another in my future once the frags turn to colonies.

Yeah two mp40's would be awesome..... But I also don't want the wifey to get upset...... So, what would be better for the near future? It's kind of even right now. If this is set up peninsula style, I know the mp40 will be able to get flow all the way to the end, but will the mp10's?

I was going to do 2 MP10's on my tank, both on the back wall. That was ruled out when I measured 1/2" glass back there. If you put both MP10's on the same side, and synced them, I think it would be about equal to one MP40. Given that it is going to be a peninsula, I am thinking the MP40 is your best bet.
