Guys, need some advice on this one. I need to get a wrasse that eats pest and at the same time wont stir the sand bed. My yellow wrasse is getting on my nerve. It has to be replaced ASAP.

Sixlines, melanarus, and coris wrasses are among the most efficient IME

Just from my experience, I am a big wrasse hobbyist, the ones that are good pest eaters tend to be more aggressive towards other more kinder wrasses.

FWIW..........

Melanirus will eat anything that moves. Caught him eating random bugs from the surface of the water the other day.

yellow corris wrasse we had ate anythign and evreything! seen it eat some HUGE pods it coudlnt even fit in its mouth with out tearing them appart.... but he decided to carpet surf before i got my tops built.....

It's kinda a trade off between digs in the sand and aggressive twords other wrasses.

Personally i would avoid a six line. They are mean and will bother many future inhabitants. Even the smallest sixline will take on a much large wrasse. What kind of pests are you trying to eliminate?

In order of preference

Melanarus (semi aggressive)
Yellow Coris
Radiant
Sixline (aggressive)
Y

I have several wrasse and the ones I would say that tend to be the best hunters are the yellow corris, melenarus, and mystery. My flashers and fairies tend to just hang around and look cool.

You cannot go wrong with the Melanurus wrasse. Beautiful fish, excellent hunter or pest and over all pretty docile. They do sleep in the sand but mine doesn't cause any sandstorms or ever really cover corals with substrate. Now sand sifting gobies are a whole different story :)

Cool. I am getting the melanurus wrasse. There is no particulate pest I wanna target. But I do need a pest eater in my 75 gallon z n p garden. The yellow wrasse that I have at the moment is very effective, but he is creating sandstorm in the tank.
