Im looking for a Wrasse specifically for pest control. It is for a 70 gallon SPS dominant tank. Trying to avoid a six line out of hit or miss aggression issues. My main requirements I am looking for is eats Nudi's and Flatworms, suitable in a bare bottom, and general on the less aggressive side. I know you can add a container of sand in the tank for some Wrasses, but I do want to do that.

My favorite is yellow coris wrasse. While some can be evil, 6 line wrasse is good. Mine is a model citizen but can say that for many others.

I don't know if I have been lucky or what but I have never had a six line that was not a model citizen in the tank. I know you don't want to have a container in it however... I do have a system that is bare bottom and has a six line in it. However I have a 4'' PVC end cap and a reducer that slips into the end cap. I have sand in this which really allows me to crank the flow without the sand going everywhere like happens in some other container types if that is why you don't want the container.

Honestly, no wrasse that eats pests and isn’t peaceful will be suited for a bare bottom tank. All of the other fish that will go into that tank and live will either kill some other fish or need sand to thrive.

I triple the yellow coris. Way cool, keeps to themselves. I've read that the male 6line wrasse is the issue, If you have a female they're generally good citizens.

Edit: I I didn't see bare bottom in the OP. Yellow won't work.

Yellow Coris wrasse buries itself in sand. I recommend mystery wrasse or a 4 Lined Wrasse (similar to 6 line, but not jerky).

Well, the pest eaters Halichoeres and macropharngdon need sand. This includes yellow coris. Not sure how many pests a pink streak will take care of. @i cant think @Slocke
A pink streak will likely stress too much in that tank if this isn’t the first species of fish in the tank.

Thats what I was seeing through my research which led me here hoping for some other options.

No other Wrasses. Currently 2 clowns and a Lawnmower Goby. Future intentions for some sort of Bristle tooth tang

Nothing very aggressive. I think a couple pink streaks will do fine.

^ I agree a couple of pink streaks would be good. You could even mix a couple of pink streaks with a couple different pygmy wrasses... you'd have a group of peaceful pest eating wrasses that don't need sand.

I personally disagree, I’ve had an established blenny then added a pink streak and that fish wound up dead within 2 days of aggression. And the clowns will also more than likely take on the pinkie.
These guys are peaceful to the point even a bit of aggression from a Clownfish or blenny will take them out during the establishing stage. I wouldn’t personally risk it unless this fish was going in before the 3 others and had time to establish.

My lawnmower blennies have never cared about the addition of wrasses only other herbivores, sorry yours did.
The OP has a 70g tank plenty of territory for pink streaks to seek refuge if necessary.

The best pest control Wrasse would need sand. Pink streak are an option, they don't do heavy pest removal, small bugs and pods.

There's also an option of springeri damsels. They are not aggressive like other damsels but do eat small pests also. Again they are smaller and probably won't take out the larger pests.

Any of the Halichoeres Wrasse or yellow Coris. I have two Halichoeres Wrasse in my system and they hunt all day long.
